We're not your average brand. We're trailblazers for hands-on, playful, imaginative cardboard construction, inspiring today's kids to build a better tomorrow. 

An award-winning, family-run business based in Melbourne, Australia, Makedo is a simple-to-use, open-ended system of tools for creative cardboard construction. Makedo enables children to see value in everyday cardboard and to independently repurpose it into imaginative, playful and useful creations, all the while planting a seed of critical thinking into the minds of tomorrow's problem solvers. Makedo comes to life in collaborative creative environments such as classrooms, maker spaces, museums and homes.

Founded on playful creativity

Children are endlessly imaginative. Ever eager to make indescribable thingamajigs for play, Paul Justin (PJ) sought to develop an open-ended construction system simple enough to enable his children (and many others) to independently create worlds of their own imagining. PJ's ‘aha moment’ was in utilising cardboard; a universally available, free and unlimited building block. With the development of fit-for-purpose, intuitive, reusable tools for crafting and connecting cardboard, Makedo was born.

The concept:

The awesomeness of Makedo is that we learn by doing; creating, experimenting, failing, thinking, recreating and maybe solving. With Makedo, learners can explore their ideas and hypotheses in an open-ended, hands-on way that engenders a deeper understanding of concepts with application to real-life scenarios. Best of all, this process is accessible to makers as young as four. The core Makedo system is comprised of SCRUs and SCRU-DRIVER to connect, SAFE-SAWs to cut and a FOLD-ROLLER to sculpt.
